Handrails

Cenpart can offer supply only or installed Handrailing Systems, in several styles, to suit your individual design requirements. From simple industrial steel designs through to decorative, aesthetic- enhancing, stainless steel systems, which can incorporate timber and glass components, we can offer a solution where ever a protective hand rail is required.

Tubular Handrails are available in mild, stainless steel and aluminium and in a range of diameters. They can be supplied in galvanised, painted or powder coated finish.

The required design loading for handrails is often derived from BS 6399-1:1996 Loading for Buildings Part 1: Code of Practice for Dead and Imposed Loads and varies according to its location and usage. By choice of post and rail diameters, wall thickness and post spacings we can offer a solution to meet most load requirements. Further flexibility is introduced with baseplate and sideplate fixings as well as being able to cast them into concrete foundations.

Ball standard type

Using “ball standards” gives a cost effective, yet custom appearance to an installation. Either tubular or solid upright posts are fabricated with balls welded in to them at the points where the handrails run horizontally. A variety of ball diameters are available, to suit the size of handrail tube used, and the horizontal handrail passes through them before being fixed in place with a grub screw. The posts can be secured to a structure with baseplate or sideplate fixings, or they can be cast into concrete foundations.

The custom nature of Ball Standard Handrail means that at locations where the handrail is “raked” , such as at stairways or ramps, then the posts have to be specifically fabricated with the balls set at the site specific angle. This is no problem at all provided that accurate informaton is available prioir to manufacture. Architects drawings often supply the required information for us to to work out angles, but experience tells us that what is drawn is not always what is built so it’s worthwhile double checking. Cenpart can offer a survey and drawing service to ensure that materials fit right first time.

Modular clamp fittings

This versatile range of slip on, galvanised tube fittings, when combined with galvanised tube and an allen key, give amazing flexibility. Enabling quick and easy construction of structures such as handrails and barriers without the need for welding or riveting.

Imaginative use of tube fittings has also seen them used in the creation of such diverse items as Garment Racking & Retail Displays, Sports Practice Nets, Market Stalls, Lighting Supports, Cycle Racks and Trolley Bays, Playground Equipment, Greenhouses and much more.

The introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and the Building Regulations Part M:2004 has seen the requirement for specific design considerations for handrailing in many buildings. The Assist range has been specially designed to help compliance with the DDA and the Building Regulations Part M:2004. Like standard tube fittings, assembley is still quick and easy by using a hexagon key, with no riveting, drilling of tube, welding, threading or specialist tools required.

Because they are able to fully integrate with standard clamp systems it enables exisiting systems to be easily upgraded to comply with regulations.
